Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid internship opportunity for students graduating in 2025–2026 with a bachelor’s degree in engineering or related fields. The position is based at Axiom Black in Newark, NJ, with flexibility for some remote work. As an intern, you will work closely with a team of engineers and project managers on real-world projects, participate in regular team stand-ups, and may have opportunities to communicate with contractors or clients to understand project requirements and deliverables.

 

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a team of engineers and project personnel on various design and engineering projects.

• Participate in regular stand-up meetings to provide updates on progress and align with team goals.

• Assist in reviewing project proposals or plans to determine time frames, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing projects, staffing requirements, and resource allocation.

• Contribute to discussions with contractors, clients, or stakeholders to gather requirements, provide updates, or resolve project-related issues.

• Support project staff in outlining work plans and assigning duties, responsibilities, and scopes of authority.

• Help prepare status reports, track deliverables, and recommend modifications to schedules or plans as needed.

• Assist in preparing project reports for management and clients.

• Provide technical advice and support to resolve project-related issues.

• Contribute to safety, performance, budgeting, scheduling, equipment management, and quality evaluation activities.

• Participate in site visits, meetings, and training sessions as required.

 

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program in Engineering or a related field, with an expected graduation date in 2025 or 2026.

• Proficiency in engineering software tools, such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar design software.

• Familiarity with simulation tools like MATLAB, ANSYS, or other modeling software is a plus.

• Basic experience with data analysis tools such as Excel (advanced functions), Power BI, or Tableau.

• Knowledge of project management tools like Microsoft Project, Trello, or Jira is beneficial.

• Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with teammates and external stakeholders.

• Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and deliverables effectively.

• A proactive mindset, willingness to learn, and adaptability in a dynamic environment.

• Team-oriented with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
